Woodfire Kiln Work

I currently work focusing on the sculptural possibilities within the atmospheric kiln. I work primarily with wood and soda-fired ceramics. Historically, specific shapes have been thought to be optimal within the atmospheric kiln. The movement of flame, ash, and additives produces the surface decoration that the potter wishes to achieve. I want to explore the sculptural possibilities within the atmospheric firing. I will focus on different forms, clay bodies, glazes, added combustibles, and loading locations within the kiln.
